REVIEW OF SOULFLOWER ROSEHIP AND JOJOBA OIL
Last
December, I got my hands on Soulflower Rosehip oil and Jojoba oil and I have
been using it since then.
As the
regular readers of my blog know, I have always loved using oils on my skin and
interestingly Soulflower oils have suited my skin really good. After using Argan
oil, I wanted to try these two oils as I was already aware of their goodness.
PACKAGING
Soulflower has a cardboard packaging with a map drawn on it. It looks beautiful and added to that, is sustainable for the environment. I really appreciate their initiative towards environment consciousness. The oils come with a dropper, thus, there is no chance of them getting spilled.
The
package mentions that it is a cold-pressed Rosehip/Jojoba oil. FYI: Cold pressed
oils retain the natural, healthy antioxidants, which is otherwise destroyed by
heat. So, they clearly are the best form of plant oils.
Cold pressing is a way of extracting oil from
organically grown seeds, fruits and nuts pressed safely at a cool temperature
to protect the oil from rancidity, trans fat, and other toxic processing
chemicals.
AVAILABILTY
You can
easily get Soulflower brands in Amazon, Nykaa and their official website.
PRICE
The MRP
of Rosehip oil and Jojoba oil is Rs.800 and Rs.650 respectively.
I got
mine during a sale, so, I got both of them for Rs.1015.
JOJOBA OIL
TEXTURE (Jojoba
oil)
A very
light oil and is suitable for oily skin too, for it doesn’t clog pores.
Jojoba oil is not actually oil but a liquid
wax and it closely resembles human sebum— the oil our body secretes.
Advantages:
- Reduces dark spots, wrinkles and treats acne
- Balances excess oil production
- Is a great moisturizer
- Is a great makeup primer.
ROSEHIP OIL
TEXTURE (Rosehip
oil)
It is
also a light oil and gets readily absorbed into our skin. It has a
slight yellow/red tinge to it. And, has a sight woody smell which dies away
after application.
Advantages:
- Stimulates collagen production and slows down aging.
- Contains high amounts of Vitamin C that penetrate the skin, unlike water soluble ascorbic acid that has trouble reaching lower layers of epidermis.
- Delivers a hefty dose of a natural retinoid, trans-retinoic acid which combats age spots, sun damage and wrinkles.
- Evens out skin tone.
- Good for mature skin (can start using from your 20s, good for the skin).
MY FINAL THOUGHTS
The
overall packaging is awesome. The oils have really suited my skin. It moisturizes my skin and has helped it become soft and to glow. Remember that the
right facial oil for your skin type can do wonders and, both Rosehip and Jojoba
oil has helped me achieve glow on my skin and has worked effectively on my dark
spots. Although I haven’t observed any drastic changes but it definitely has
improved my skin texture.
I have
used it for 1 ½ months. Perhaps with regular application, I may come across
some visible changes and reduction of more dark spots.
My skin
becomes dry during winter, so, I apply a drop of jojoba oil on my skin before
applying any makeup. It absorbs into my skin and doesn’t make me look oily.
And, I
use the rosehip oil at night and give myself a gentle facial massage.
In
Holistic skincare, massaging the skin is important to increase the circulation
of blood. Massage activates the lymphatic system which in return fights
wrinkles and fine lines.
Therefore,
both these oils can be used to massage the face. It can be used individually as
well as by combining them. (N.B. You can also add essential oil if you want.)
Will I repurchase it? Yes.
