4 SIMPLE WAYS TO CONNECT WITH NATURE

I have always tried to connect with nature, for I have heard and read how life-changing those experiences can be. Since I do not travel often, I have minimal options when it comes to connecting with nature. But, I realize that I do not have to go on treks, trips, and adventures to connect with nature. While sitting at home or while walking to and back from university, I often disconnect myself from technology and for a few moments every day, I try to acknowledge nature that surrounds us and connect with it by following an effortless routine. Let me tell you how you can too:

Take deep breaths
Sit somewhere, close your eyes, and take deep breathes. Feel the air flowing inside you inflating the chest and appreciate the life you have inside you. Unlike meditation, you can do this breathing exercise anywhere. I do this often while I sit on the benches after our hectic classes.

 Mindfully drink Water

Water is a miracle drink that nature gives us. While drinking water, feel its texture. Understand that water is such a vital thing that nature gives us and how it fulfils our thirst and helps our body in performing various essential tasks. This small exercise makes me feel connected to nature.

Visit riverside/ seaside/ lake

I feel lucky to live in a town that is so close to the mighty Brahmaputra. I sometimes go to the riverside to enjoy the view. Every time I am there, I try to appreciate the cool breeze on my hair and the sight of the flowing water. Next time you are at a riverside, seaside, or a lake, take a moment, close your eyes, and feel the wind blowing at your face. At that moment, do not think of anything, keep your mind blank and just appreciate the moment and feel how your body reacts to it. You will definitely feel fresher and relaxed.

Gaze at the sky

Sky is all above us. When at home or on your way back home, do look up at the sky and gaze. Try to comprehend how vast it is. Let your thoughts and imagination wander till you can imagine the roundness of the earth and the sky covering all of it (or perhaps see the galaxies because you know they are there, right?).
You should also try gazing at a sky full of stars at night. I had never appreciated these small things before, but thanks to my best friend, who made me realize that I was missing out on so many beautiful things that surround us.
