Make Your Own Facial Oil | THE SHILPA DOLEY BLOG

I prefer making my own skincare products and I make them whenever it is possible for me. I was introduced to clean and organic skincare about a year ago. Since then, I have made it a point to incorporate at least one item in my skincare or hair-care routine. Today I shall talk about making your diy Face oil blend.

Why use Facial Oils?
Our bodies produce oil naturally but it decreases with age or when it is not taken care of properly. It is essential to put oil on our skin to maintain a healthy balance or else it often dries out and that results in breakouts and premature aging.
Only oils with lower molecular structure should be used for it to penetrate through the top layer of our skin. Therefore, lighter oils are preferable as it sinks into the skin quickly, without clogging the pores.
Added to that, you must know that
  • Massaging the face improves blood circulation and activates the lymphatic vessels.
  • It nourishes our skin.
  • Reduces dryness and removes scars and pigmentation.
  • Delays the formation of wrinkles.
What are Facial oils?
Facial oil is a blend of plant based carrier oils and beneficial essential oils that nourishes, deeply moisturizes and protects our skin. Face oils are also considered to be a type of emollient, which prevents the moisture from escaping our skin and also prevents water loss. With the correct combination of oils, one can achieve desired results. Now that we are in the middle of winter, like a lot of people, my skin is drying out too (I have a combination skin). So, I decided to make my own blend by keeping in mind my skin concern.

How to use facial oils?
Let me put out a few pointers for you:
  • You can add facial oils into your serums or moisturizers.
  • You just need 3-4 drops only.
  • It can be applied both in the morning and at night.
  • If you are in a hurry, you can just cleanse your face and massage the oil when the face is still damp.

NOTE
  • People with heavy acne and sensitive skin should first undergo a patch test. Organic cold pressed high quality plant oils usually suit all skin types, but, just to stay be on the safe side, you should go for a patch test. Following that, wait a few weeks to actually see if the oil suits you, for it takes some time for the skin to adjust with a new regime.
  • Not all oils will work for you, so, try and see which oil suits you the best. And then stick to it.
