5 WEB SERIES THAT I LOVE WATCHING AND YOU MAY TOO!

As an avid enthusiast of the supernatural, fantasy and sci-fi genres, I can’t help myself from binge watching shows and series every time I come across one made in those genres. Below is a list of 5 tv series that I love watching. There are obviously more of them but for the time being, I’m going to talk about only these. I am sure you’ll like them if you too enjoy the supernatural genre. This list might, hopefully, help you through the quarantine. Except Grimm all are available on Netflix 😊

01.  THE VAMPIRE DIARIES
Based on a book of the same name by L.J Smith, The Vampire Diaries is an absolute favourite. This series has my heart and I have watched it over and over for at least 5 times till date.  Set in the town of Mystic Falls, it tells the story of two brothers who had fallen for the same girl resulting in all the trials, anger and revenge throughout their lives, which might not come as a surprise, is nearly 127 years. It is not just about two teen brothers falling in love but also about their own sense of right and wrong against time and war (both literal and metaphorical). This show deals with a variety of emotions, whether be it love of brothers/partners/friends/family etc.  The characters grow in each season with building the story line. It has a total of eight seasons. If you love supernatural and are not much into talking reality and are overwhelmed by what is going around in the world already, then you are sure to enjoy it. It’s fun, entertaining and then, there is Damon! ...you can’t miss. I always shipped Elena and Damon together. The series is available on Netflix.

02.  LUCIFER
This is one of my latest watches and instantly fell for the Lucifer...and yes, that’s the same biblical Lucifer. The story goes like this: Lucifer retires from his work in hell and stays on earth taking ownership of a nightclub Lux in Los Angeles. Then the series follows the charming, charismatic handsome Lord of Hell, Lucifer Morningstar helping the LAPD Detective Chloe Decker solve homicides for his own amusement. It currently has 4 seasons and now I’m eagerly waiting for the fifth  season which is to release this year. This series too is available on Netflix.

03.  TEEN WOLF
This one ran for a total of 6 seasons. The series revolves around Scott McCall, after being bitten by a werewolf and his adventures with his best friend Stiles Stilinkski learning and forming a pack of his own. The show is bursting with bloody rivalries between many supernatural creatures looking to take over Beacon Hills. The evils are resisted by a group consisting of the turned werewolf Scott McCall and his best friend Stiles Stilinski among others. This show can make you burst out in laughter and also make you cry your eyes out. Enjoy your time watching. It’s available on Netflix.

04.  LOCKE & KEY
After the murder of their father three Locke siblings and their mother move into their ancestral home Keyhouse, which they discover is full of magical keys. Adapted from the famous comic series by Joe Hill, it is worth watching (evidently there are differences).  After watching it, felt like I myself have entered into a magical world of keys and suspense. The characters are relatable and the relationship between the siblings is also convincing. In the beginning, the sense of disconnection with their mother is also understandable considering the recent demise of their father and change of place.  This show has only one season for now.

05.  GRIMM
The show is a striking blend of fairytales, folktales and urban legends. The big bad wolf, as read in fairy tales, comes to life but not in a murderous way but a friendlier and helpful way. The show follows homicide detective Nick Burkhardt – a ‘grimm’—with his Wesen partner Monroe who go out solving cases involving both human and wesens. Grimms are a long line of hunters of supernatural who are sworn to keep balance between humanity and creatures known as Wesen. But, more than being the enemies, wesen Monroe and Rosalee grow to be close friends with Nick. It giving the message that differences in looks and form does not make enemies. Rather we must grow against them and create a better world. In the series, there are moments of laughter and friendship which I relished and loved a lot.
