MAKE YOUR OWN HERBAL INFUSED OIL IN 5 EASY STEPS
Herbal infused oil is a type of carrier oil that has been infused with
the ‘goodness’ of herbs. When an herb, a combination of herbs or flowers is
infused in oil for a certain period of time, it releases its nutrients and properties
into the oil, which can be later used for different purposes. The herbal infused
oil can be used in culinary, skincare, hair care and body care. As the oil
absorbs the properties of the herbs, it gives away a rich aroma depending on
the herb used.

It is really easy to make herbal infused oil, but you’ve to keep in mind
that you be careful about the hygiene and make sure it’s completely dry with no
moisture. The infused oil has the properties of both the carrier oil and the
herbs infused in it. The plant is immersed into a high quality cold-pressed
carrier oils and it can be done in the following 3 ways:
METHOD 1
:Cold infusion
METHOD
2: Sun infusion
METHOD
3: Heat infusion
I prefer the first two methods which I am
going to explain below.
THINGS REQUIRED
- Cold-pressed coconut oil
- Tulsi leaves, dried and powdered
- Amla powder (bought from a local store)
NOTE: Use dried herbs to ensure longer shelf life
of oil as fresh herbs will add moisture and might spoil it.
METHOD1:
COLD INFUSION (The method I followed, takes some time but, it’s worth
the wait)
- Clean a glass jar and make sure it’s completely dry.
- Add the Tulsi and Amla powder into the jar.
- Pour the coconut oil on top and make sure the oil reaches the brim of the jar.
- Now, gently stir it with a spoon so that it mixes well.
- Put the lid on and let it infuse for at least 6 weeks in a warm place away from sunlight. OR,
METHOD
2: SUN INFUSION
- Follow all the steps above and let the jar sit in the sunlight, preferably by a window for 4 weeks.
Voila! Your Tulsi and Amla infused hair oil is
ready to use. Use it as it is or you can prepare a hair growth blend
like I do. You can also customize it with oils of your choice. The recipe is
attached below.
