SUGANDA WHITE LOTUS MOISTURIZER : REVIEW

White Lotus moisturizer
White Lotus Moisturizer

After searching for a good moisturizer for a long time, I came across Suganda White Lotus moisturizer for oily to combination skin. I can claim that it the first proper moisturizer with good ingredients I have used till date. Suganda White Lotus moisturizer has now become my absolute favorite and let me tell you why.

So, here is a full review of the product.

MY SKIN TYPE: My skin type is oily and acne-prone.

PACKAGING

The moisturizer comes in a glass pump bottle, which means it’s both hygienic and sustainable. You could definitely reuse the bottle for other purposes which I shall definitely let you know how once I finish it. I am personally in love with most Indian brands nowadays, for they use only glass bottles for packaging and then, I get to reuse them for my infusions and DIY.

Comes in a pump bottle

TEXTURE and USAGE

It has a gel-like consistency, thus, it gets absorbed in to the skin without any trouble. 1-2 pumps are sufficient for your face. I personally use only 1 pump and that’s enough for me. Use it on damp face.

INGREDIENTS

It comprises White Lotus extracts, 3% niacinamide and hyaluronic acid among other ingredients. FYI: Niacinamide works on reducing acne, pigmentation, balances sebum production, promotes healthy skin barrier among others. And, hyaluronic acid is a powerful humectant which helps replenish cell moisture, fast absorbing   and safe for all skin types. I feel it has a pretty decent formulation. Folks with oily to combination skin will love it. If you feel a bit dry, you may add a drop of oil on days your skin feels dry.

SMELL

The product comes in 2 variants: one scented and another unscented one.
I got the one with fragrance as my skin can tolerate it and moreover, as it is mentioned, the fragrance is of essential oils so, I’m good with it. It doesn’t irritate my skin. And if anyone has concerns with fragrance, then you may purchase the unscented version so, no worries there.

The fragranced version has a mild flowery-kinda smell which I love.

PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

The price of the moisturizer is Rs. 750/- for 50ml and can be used for up to 1 year from the date of manufacture. And it will last you a good 5-6 months even when used daily. I have used it for almost 2 months now and only 30% is out.

You can  buy it from their official website.

DURATION I USED

I started using it exactly on 24th May (yes, I do keep a record in my skincare journal). So, you can say I am reviewing it after using it for around 2 months everyday in the morning.

MY EXPERIENCE

So, the WL moisturizer was my first product with actives ( I had never used products with actives before). In the initial days when you use an active on your skin, it needs some adjustment time and will purge i.e., breakout in areas where your skin usually break out and that goes away in a few days or, at maximum, a few weeks.

I was having some active acne on my jaw line and cheeks for the last few months and it was gone by the time I started using this moisturizer. So, when I started using it, say, for 5 days, I started noticing a few pimples on my jaw line and cheeks. These are the places my skin usually breaks out and as it occurred in the same place of my usual breakout, it was purging. I didn’t change my routine: cleanser, rose water, moisturizer, sunscreen (day time) and after a week the pimples disappeared. Since then I haven't experienced any purging or reaction due to the moisturizer. In fact, my skin just loves it. It more of feels like a serum. My face remains matte for long hours after I moisturize. This is of course a hit for me. Being oily skinned in a humid climate in Assam, you can’t help but sweat, sweat and sweat some more. But, this moisturizer keeps greasiness at bay while at the same time works on your skin’s needs. I have been using this along with my other actives and surely my skin has improved a lot and has achieved a certain glow. The PIH on skin has lightened. Give this a try and take it slow. But, in the winters I tend to have drier skin so, I might skip this or just add a drop of oil.
